Movie stars in the Sonnen area on the Schmitten
SkiMovie brings your own ski style to the internet
From this winter, the SkiMovie course by the Hochmais lift becomes more exciting for amateur racers. Two cameras film every skier or snowboarder from start to finish. Just seconds later, the run can be analysed at www.schmitten.at or at one of the card-reader equipped video screens in the Schmitten operated restaurants.
Until now, the race course near the mountain station of the Hochmais lift has always been a highlight of the Sonnkogel, although only the time and average speed could be displayed directly at the finish point. From now on, every ski enthusiast can analyse their time and film of their more or maybe less elegant ski swing with friends, at home or during Apres ski.
The SkiMovie system works with every Schmitten ski pass. At the start of the race course, a hands-free card reader recognises the ski pass and starts the filming. A camera in the start hut documents the seconds before the starting jump and the race against time. A further automatic moving camera "follows" the skier until the finish line. A few moments later, the video clip may be viewed on a screen directly on-the-spot and worldwide over the internet.
Share your race results with friends
The SkiMovie video screens are unique in Zell am See. With the ski pass numbers, collective race films can be viewed in the Schmitten restaurants and discussed with friends over a drink. As with the favoured Photopoint on the Sonnkogel, from every terminal an electronic postcard of your success on the piste can also be sent to friends at home. Also planned is a "Best of" the videos on www.schmitten.at and a prize-giving ceremony at the end of the season. Attractive prizes beckon the winners at the season end.
