
The point of travelling is to reach your destination; the point of hiking is the journey itself.
The Pinzgau Walk is one of the most beautiful high trails in the eastern Alps, serving up exhilarating views of the ice-covered peaks of the Hohe Tauern. Along the entire length of this tour, the Salzach Valley lies some 1,000 m below your feet. Towering skywards: such famous mountains as the Grossglockner, the Kitzsteinhorn, the Granatspitze, the Sonnblick and the Grossvenediger.

Equipment: | good shoes, rain gear; bring along plenty of snacks and liquids, since there are no refreshment opportunities along the way. |
Route: | Meet at 8:15 a.m. at the ticket office located at the valley terminus of the Schmittenhöhebahn. Led by our hiking guide, you will ride up on the Schmittenhöhe lift. This is followed by a hike along the “Pinzgau Walk” to Saalbach. After riding down on the Schattberg lift, you will take the bus back to our original starting point. |
Safety Tip: | Though not at all difficult, the “Pinzgau Walk” is a very long hike. Good physical condition is necessary! |
