Thermal uplift on the Schmitten

You would like to fly high and far? The excellent thermal uplift in Zell am See-Kaprun provides the perfect conditions for that. By the way, the best time for thermal and cross-country flying is from April to August. But: Flights are possible from February onwards and, thus, you can soar across the snowy winter landscape of the Pinzgau if you like.

What makes the thermal uplift surrounding the Schmitten so special? The strong uplift from the Südostkessel (“south-eastern cauldron”). That way you can enjoy a timely start – no matter the transregional wind direction.
