Schmitten Views - A high altitude promenade

New hiking experiences...
...as far as the eye can see!
The innovative hiking experiences on the schmitten have been expanded another exciting notch: the newly designed high altitude promenade called "Schmitten Views" was opened for business in August 2010.
"Even classics need an occasional facelifting," thought the Schmitten team. So they began devising a completely new concept for a high altitude trail as a promenade between the Sonnkogel and the summit. They named their project "Schmitten Views".
As the name already tells you, this high altitude promenade was designed to provide an incredible variety of far-ranging views from various points along the way, e.g. long distance views, nature views, culter views and backwards views. Since opening day, hikers have oogled and gaped at the diversity of attractions along this panorama high altitude hiking trail promenade.
Walkers - young and old alike - can experience an unparalleled cornucopia of nature and have fun at the same time. Viscopes, for example, a novelty in the area of " long distance telescoping", informs you about all the summits encircling the Schmitten. Thematic info-boards along the route show you the countless forms of life on the Schmitten, the history of the region, the flora and fauna, and old hunting traditions. You can stretch out and relax on any of the viewing platforms, savouring the array of peaks at the same time. And maybe you discover one of the numerous animals, carved from wood, along the promenade.
Just as human eyes are always shifting their perspectives, the Schmitten Views are also always introducing new things that might fall within the domain of this project. That's how it remains exciting and uncertain just what new things hikers will have to behold this coming summer.

Sonnkogel Restaurant
At the ending respectively starting point of the high altitude promenade – the Sonnkogel restaurant – a nice place awaits the hikers.
Children can amuse themselves on the new playground with a natural bowling alley, a slide, swings and some more surprises, like „Schmidolin´s Magic Potion“, where the kids can experiment with water, that comes straight out of the earth of the Schmitten – it gets transported, is brought to flowing, changes course and is dammed up. All the other things you can learn about water and how important it is, Schmidolin – the mascot of the Schmitten – explains to you besides.

While the kids are having fun on the playground and on the children´s climbing wall, parents and grandparents can relax on the sunloungers or on the sun terrace of the Sonnkogel restaurant with coffee and cake and enjoy the view.
We are looking forward to your visit!
