Snowshoe Hiking

Ever given it a try? Hiking with snowshoes on your feet through the tranquil winter countryside, soaking in the glorious scenery and picking up all kinds of interesting information.

Route: | We meet at 10:00 a.m. at the base terminus of the Schmittenhöhebahn/trassXpress, where we will be greeted by our hiking guide. From here, we ride the Sonnenalm and Sonnkogel lifts up to an elevation of 1800 m above sea level. After a short introduction to the sport on flat ground, we will hike through the snow-covered forests of the Schmitten. The absolute tranquillity and beauty of the Steinernes Meer is certain to thrill you. After walking for about 2 hours, we will reach our restaurant, the "Sonnkogel-Restaurant", where, if we decide to, we can stop in and enjoy refreshments. And with our tummies full and batteries recharged, we will ride the lifts back down the mountain, returning to our original starting point. |

Nordic Walking Tour
Fitness for your whole body!
Nordic Walking is a sporty, dynamic form of power-walking with special poles. By using the Nordic-Walking poles, you enjoy a complete full-body workout. The muscles of the upper body (the shoulders, neck, back, chest and arms) receive some particularly intensive training.

Route: | We meet at 10:00 a.m. at the ticket office located at the base terminus of the Schmittenhöhebahn/trassXpress, where we will meet our Nordic-Walking guide. From here, we ride the Sonnenalm and Sonnkogel lifts to an elevation of 1,800 metres. We will now walk to the summit terminus of the Schmitten lift and on to the “Panorama-Restaurant”, where we can stop for refreshments if we choose. With our batteries recharged, we will now ride the trassXpress down to the base terminus of Schmittenhöhebahn/trassXpress. |

Guided Winter Hike
Travelling is all about reaching your destination; hiking, on the other hand, is all about the journey itself.
Leave your own tracks in the snow, enjoying one of the Schmitten's winter hiking trails along the ridgeline at elevations around 2,000 metres above sea level. Glorious views of the snow-covered peaks of the Hohe Tauern and Limestone Alps, led by an expert local guide, are sure to leave you with an array of unforgettable impressions.

Route: | We meet at 10:00 a.m. at the ticket office located at the base terminus of the Schmittenhöhe/trassXpress lift, where we will be greeted by our hiking guide. Ride up on the Schmittenhöhe lift. Opportunity to tour the Elisabeth Chapel. Then it is time for our hike along the “High Promenade” to the Sonnkogel summit terminus. If desired, we will stop for refreshments at the “Sonnkogel-Restaurant” before riding the Sonnkogel and Sonnalm lifts back to our original starting point. |

GPS Skisafari
Find a hidden treasure with the help of a GPS device in the area of the Schmitten.

Costs: | the skisafari is free, you just need a valied skipass to borrow a GPS unit you have to leavel an ID card as security |

Route: | Meet our guide at the bottom station of Schmittenhöhe cable care. After brief instructions by the guide, you will set off on your own, to go looking for the Schmitten-GPS Points. If you can find them all, a surprise present awaits you at the info office. From here, you will take the cable car up to Schmittenhöhe at 2.000 metres above sea level, the starting point of this tour. |
Groups exceeding 10 people must be registered the day before. Guided walks will be carried out up to 25 people. The Schmitten shall not be liable for accidents and injuries, occurring in the course of the guided walk.
