Trass Slope

Black piste for experts only

At the ski runs the colour black stands for challenge, knowhow and adrenalin. If you feel that this is directed at you, you should not miss a racy downhill at one of the longest black pistes of Salzburger Land, the Trass. With up to 70 % the Trass is a true thrill for expert skiers.

At the end of the Trass, when your thighs are burning, a curve into the finish area awaits skiers. Done! The route ends at the valley station of the Schmittenhöhebahn.

Best time for the descent was by Hermann Maier in 1995: 3 minutes 47 seconds.

Insiders know

When there is fresh fallen snow, it’s worth it to get up early and take the first cabin to the summit at 8:15 am. You simply MUST experience the deep powder on the Trass during the morning hours!

Ski slope preparation: about 11.00 am / Attention: Heed piste closures!

That means: unskiable conditions prevail on the run.

Josef Pichler discovered at age 7 his favourite ski descent: The black ski run is in many ways rather extreme. Namely, extremely steep, extremely long and, unforgiving. And it is just this combination of attributes which make the black Trass run into an absolute FIRST CLASS run for skiers of great ability. Slope preparation deploys winch cables, so that ideal conditions are created.

“There is one privilege I reserve for myself: I want to be the first one to ski this descent each winter...and the last one,” the boss of the ski slopes rhapsodizes.
