A look behind the scenes of the construction of one of the world’s longest Funslopes
We already know how good it feels and how much fun it is to ride through a Funslope. But how do you carve such an extraordinary run in the snow? Our report about the construction of the Funslope Schmitten in Zell am See will tell you how!
“First, we groomed the slope so that we can start out from a good base. Luckily, this year, snow has fallen in abundance!” explains Roland Winkler, management staff member of the “Shape Academy” and technical manager of the Funslope Schmitten. “After that, we additionally used artificial snow and spread it with five snow groomers to build the basic structure of the Funslope.” The routing of the Funslope Schmitten was determined already in the summer and captured in different 3D maps.
Besides the three gigantic Fun Twisters and the exciting passage through the forest, Roland Winkler’s personal highlight is the Bridge: “It is located directly next to the Schmiedhof Alm. Through the big glass front of the restaurant, you can watch how skiers and snowboarders ride over the bridge. Moreover, from the terrace you have a unique view over the Funslope!” Unique is also the mountain panorama during the swift ride through Austria’s longest Funslope – in the upper part you have an unrivaled view over the Zeller See.
But enough said! Let’s enjoy the first part of the report on the construction of the Funslope Schmitten together, which was filmed by our Funslope team on site.
Soon, the second part of the report on the construction will be published online on the Facebook page of Schmitten in Zell am See. Until then, we wish you a wonderful time at the mountain and, of course, a very merry Christmas. Your Funslopes team.
