‘Schmitten Views’ at every turn

High Altitude Promenade

The name is the game: the High Altitude Panorama Hiking Trail awaits you not only with fabulous views, but also fascinating and rewarding insights into culture, nature and history.

Hikers adore the incomparable experience of nature plus added high-calibre delights along the way. Viscopes, for example, are quite unusual "telescopes" which tell you the name of the peak your spyglass is pointing at. Thematic boards along the route point out the rich kaleidoscope of life on the Schmitten, the history of the region, the flora and fauna and various aspects of hunting. All of it is done in a cool, laid-back, tranquil manner. A number of viewing platforms entice you to pause for a little rest and linger awhile, at the same time the children can try to figure out whether they have really seen all the carved wooden statues of animals along the way.
