Zell am See – along with the Schmittenhöhe – is one of Austria’s top family ski resorts for skiing with children. Every winter sports day on the Schmitten is varied and action-packed.
Newcomer to the slopes, little adventurer, seasoned pro or anyone in between: With 77 kilometres of ski runs, there’s a perfect descent for every type of winter sports enthusiast, no matter their age.
The Schmittenhöhebahn AG offers a variety of winter tickets for families. Parents will appreciate that young children can use the cable cars and lifts free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Additionally, ski pass prices are staggered according to age, with different tickets for adults, youths and kids.
Schmidolin is the Schmittenhöhe’s adorable mascot. The young dragon ensures that children have a fantastic time skiing on Zell’s landmark mountain.
The Dragon Park is sure to ignite a thirst for adventure among the little ones. They get to zoom through tunnels, over waves and more. That’s not just fun – it also helps children internalise what they have learned. What better way for them to hone their skills!
At Schmidolin’s Kinder-Skiland on Zell’s landmark mountain, children learn to ski in a playful manner. The adventure begins on the magic carpet, “Schmidolin’s Dragon Tunnel”, even before any of the actual skiing starts. After their initial attempts on skis, it’s off to the ski run and time to tackle the mini slalom. There’s also plenty of seating available where they can take a breather when needed.
Learning made easy: Schmidolin always explains the most important piste rules to everyone, ensuring that even the youngest skiers prioritise safety. And if they can’t get enough of Schmidolin, how about having them join his dragontastic fan club? Becoming a member comes with numerous benefits and is, of course, free of charge.
Kids until the age of ten years can get a member of Schmidolins Club free of charge.
