Kim Kabamba named Apprentice of the Month

Kim Kabamba has been named “Apprentice of the Month May 2026” by the Salzburg Economic Chamber. Schmittenhöhebahn AG warmly congratulates her on this special recognition.

There is great joy at Schmittenhöhebahn AG: Kim Kabamba has been named “Apprentice of the Month May 2026” by the Salzburg Economic Chamber. This is already the second time that an apprentice from Schmittenhöhebahn AG has been honoured for outstanding achievements.

The award ceremony took place on 6 May 2026 directly at our company. The award was presented by Provincial Councillor Mag. Daniela Gutschi, President KommR. Peter Buchmüller, WKS Director Dr. Gert Raspotnig and Dr. Martina Plaschke. Schmittenhöhebahn AG was represented at the ceremony by Board Member Dr. Erich Egger, authorised signatory Ing. Hannes Mayer and Head of HR Mag. Christian Mayr.

Recognition for outstanding young talent

Kim has been completing a dual apprenticeship as a cable car and electrical engineering technician at Schmittenhöhebahn AG since November 2022. She completed her training as a cable car technician with distinction in February 2026. Her qualification as an electrical engineering technician will follow in autumn 2026.

Particularly impressive: alongside her practical training, Kim is studying Electrical and Information Engineering via distance learning, combining hands-on experience on the mountain with in-depth technical further education.

An apprenticeship with a view on the Schmittenhöhe

With her commitment, enthusiasm for technology and passion for the mountains, Kim is a strong role model, especially for young women in technical professions. In her free time, she can also be found in the mountains: climbing, paragliding, skiing, ski touring or volunteering with mountain rescue.

“We are very proud that, following Celina Schuster, Kim Kabamba is already the second of our young talents to be named ‘Apprentice of the Month’. This award impressively confirms the quality of our apprenticeship training and the commitment of our entire team,” says Board Member Dr. Erich Egger.
