Guided activities during the winter season

The Schmitten in winter – a magical experience! On a guided snowshoe or winter hike, you will discover the wintry Schmittenhöhe from its snowy side.

During the winter months, you can choose from various guided activities: Whether you opt for a snowshoe tour with stunning 360-degree views or a guided winter hike along the High-Altitude Promenade: Every tour is an adventure!

Important info: due to the current snow condition, there are little changes at the active program!

Plettsaukopf – snowshoe tour

Duration: approx. 4 hours

 

From the cityXpress mountain station, you will hike to Plettsaukopf reservoir. And afterwards, you’ll walk along the shore of the lake and discover the wintry Schmitten. On a clear day, the stunning scenic views of the neighbouring peaks around Lake Zell are bound to take your breath away.

 

What are you waiting for? Put on your warm winter shoes, pack a warming drink in your rucksack, and off you go! Snowshoes and snow poles can be rented directly on site.

Snowshoe hike with summit yoga and 360° panoramic view

From the valley station of the Schmittenhöhebahn, you will walk up Zell's landmark mountain. Together with your group, you will enjoy a leisurely snowshoe tour. Always right there with you: scenic 360-degree views of the peaks of the surrounding three-thousand-metre mountains.

 

We recommend sturdy footwear and warm winter clothing for the hike. You can also take a warming drink with you. If you need snowshoes or poles, you can rent them directly on site.

High-Altitude Promenade – winter hike

Winter is your favourite season? Then you'll love the guided winter hike along the High-Altitude Promenade! The high hiking trail boasts impressive scenic views and lets you enjoy the snow-covered mountain world of the Salzburger Land region.

 

Our tip: warm winter clothing and a warming drink. If you need snowshoes or poles, you can rent them directly on site.

With the interactive hiking trail map, you always have an overview of all the hiking trails on the Schmitten. And what’s even better: If you have a valid cable car ticket, participating in the guided activities is free of charge.
