1. Get your adrenaline fix at the E-Motocross Park

In the mood for a little action? During the summer months, the E-Motocross Park offers a choice of tracks for adults, teenagers and children. Younger motorsports enthusiasts can get their first taste of riding at Schmidolin’s Rocket Bike. And for even more driving fun, the Offroad Park is right next door.

2. Explore Lake Zell aboard the new electric boat

A boat trip is almost part and parcel of a summer’s day in Zell am See. Since summer 2026, the “Maria Franziska von Trapp” has joined the fleet on Lake Zell. The new vessel is fully electric and glides quietly across the water, offering ever-changing views of the lake, town and mountains.

Just as atmospheric: a classic panoramic cruise aboard the MS Schmittenhöhe.

3. Switch off with yoga and mountain hiking

The Schmittenhöhe’s weekly program is also perfect for slowing down and enjoying time outdoors. Yoga on the mountain combines movement and relaxation with an impressive alpine backdrop. Those who would rather explore on foot can join the guided “Nearby Summit Bliss” hike to the 2,074-metre Maurerkogel.

4. Have a go on the new marble tracks

Since summer 2026, new marble tracks have brought even more fun to the Schmittenhöhe. Wooden balls are available at several locations around the mountain, including Berghotel Schmittenhöhe. What starts as a quick break can soon turn into a friendly family challenge.

5. Take in the views across Lake Zell from the panoramic platform “Kaiserblick”

Right next to Berghotel Schmittenhöhe, the accessible panoramic platform “Kaiserblick” extends out over the mountainside. From there, sweeping views open up across the surrounding peaks and down to Lake Zell. Just a few steps away, the “Tradition & Innovation since 1927” exhibition at the Schmittenhöhebahn mountain station is also worth a visit. Spread across 120 square metres, it tells the story of Salzburg’s first cable car and traces the development of the Schmittenhöhe from 1927 to the present day.

6. Make the most of a rainy day

A little rain does not have to spoil a day out. At Kids Indoor Park Areit 1400, families can enjoy plenty of indoor fun whatever the weather. Those interested in the history of the Schmittenhöhe can also visit the “Tradition & Innovation since 1927” exhibition at the mountain station and discover almost 100 years of cable car history.

7. Hike the High-Altitude Promenade to Sonnkogel

The High-Altitude Promenade between the Schmittenhöhe and Sonnkogel is an easy and varied family hike. Along the way, viewpoints, play stations with marble tracks and interesting facts about the natural surroundings keep things entertaining. Salersbachköpfl is a particularly lovely place to stop for a break. At Sonnkogel, the nature-inspired playground offers plenty of opportunities for climbing, playing and exploring.

8. Watch the sunrise at Hike’n’Brunch

Getting up early is particularly worthwhile for Hike’n’Brunch. A special ride on the Schmittenhöhebahn takes guests up the mountain before sunrise. After watching this natural spectacle, a walk of around 50 minutes leads to Sonnkogel Restaurant, where a generous breakfast featuring regional specialities awaits.

Good to know: The special rides take place on selected dates. Further details are available on the event page.

9. Ease into the day with Lake’n’Brunch

Breakfast with a view takes on a whole new meaning at Lake’n’Brunch aboard the MS Schmittenhöhe. During a two-hour panoramic cruise across Lake Zell, guests can enjoy a first-class breakfast while taking in views of the surrounding mountains. A wonderfully relaxed way to start the day.

Good to know: The cruises run on selected dates. The event page provides a handy overview to help you plan your day out.

10. Experience art on the mountain

On the Schmittenhöhe, art is not confined to galleries. Art on the Mountain features numerous sculptures and installations dotted around Zell am See’s landmark mountain. The 4 Lakes Art Hike is another particularly scenic way to combine walking, mountain lakes and art in one memorable tour.

Around the Plettsaukopf reservoir, the “Glücksfall” art trail also invites visitors to discover new perspectives between mountain and lake.
